Have a question?

We have answers!

What style of dance is DiscoverDance?

Here at DiscoverDance, it’s not about WHAT we teach to our early childhood dance students, but HOW we teach it.

We approach dance education through the exploration of the concepts of dance. Because of this, we are able to teach ANY and ALL styles of dance. We do this by centering our lesson plans around 11 concepts of dance. By focusing on the essence of movement FIRST, we build a solid foundation for the skills and movements needed to progress our specialized dance skills IN ANY STYLE OF DANCE. Inside the DiscoverDance Experience, you will find creative movement, ballet, jazz, tap, acro, and hip hop warm-ups, concept explorations, skill development activities, and full lesson plans. The Experience allows you to create a curriculum that fits the needs of your students and your studio using our developmentally appropriate and unique approach to dance education.

What age groups are included in DiscoverDance?
Our classes are divided by developmental stage, not age. This means you have the ability to evaluate YOUR classes at THEIR developmental stage and place them appropriately. Listed below are what we typically see in the studio, however, you may have a class of rockstar 2-year-olds that are ready for Stage 3 and a class of 4-year-olds who need Stage 3 Skill Developments for a bit. You can place your students accordingly based on their needs. Every lesson plan and class activity (warm-up, concept exploration, obstacle course, skill development, resting) is labeled with the appropriate stage of development. You can rest assured you are delivering a developmentally appropriate curriculum that puts the needs of the developing child at the forefront of the class objectives.
Stage 1- Caregiver and Tot (typically walking-age 3)
Stage 2- Typically ages 2-3
Stage 3- Typically ages 3-4
Stage 4- Typically ages 4-6
Does DiscoverDance offer a certification?

Here at DiscoverDance, learning never ends! We are dedicated to continued education and we hope you are too. Rather than offer a one-time certification, we have created an educational platform as a place to continue your professional development in early childhood dance education. The ever-expanding DiscoverDance Experience includes training materials on classroom management, curriculum building, child development, and so much more! In addition, educators are encouraged to take the Foundations Course for Early Childhood Dance Educators.

What is the difference between the Foundations Course for Early Childhood Dance Educators and the DiscoverDance Experience?

The Foundations Course is available to all educators whether you are a member of the DiscoverDance Experience or not. It is an on-demand online course with a one-time enrollment fee.

The DiscoverDance Experience is our educational platform with additional trainings, curriculum creator, teaching library and business library (studio track only). Members can choose monthly or yearly plans. New content is added monthly. DiscoverDance Experience members receive a $100 discount/per teacher on the Foundations Course. You will find the code inside the DiscoverDance Academy. Each teacher must register for the course separately and use the coupon code to receive a discount.

Is the Foundations Course for Early Childhood Dance Educators geared towards new teachers?

This course is geared towards ALL teachers, new and experienced. If you are interested in professional development, best practices for teaching little ones, and love what you see from DiscoverDance... this course is for YOU!

Is the Foundations Course for Early Childhood Dance Educators a live training?

No. Everything is pre-recorded and ready for you when you are.

Occasionally, we will host a live training event. Check our events page for more information.

How long does it take to complete the Foundations Course for Early Childhood Dance Educators?

The online course takes 3-4 hours to complete.

Do I need to complete the Foundations Course for Early Childhood Dance Educators in order to join the DiscoverDance Experience?

Do you need to? No. However, in order to get the most out of your DiscoverDance Experience, this introductory course will give you a clear basic understanding of why we do what we do the way we do it. You will see that our approach to dance education is like no other! We created this course to introduce the foundation of not only early childhood dance education, but the foundation on the method behind our unique approach to dance education (specifically conceptual teaching and our lesson plan frameworks).

Can I purchase the Foundations Course and share it with my staff?

No. The Foundations Course for Early Childhood Dance Educators is for single-use only.  Each participant must create their own Thinkific account and purchase the course separately. If you are a studio owner and would like your entire staff to participate, contact info@discoverdance.com for group pricing. Please see our Terms and Conditions for all the fun legal verbiage.

Which membership should I choose?

If you are an independent teacher who teaches at multiple studios, you will choose the Teacher Track. Studio Owners who are the sole early childhood dance instructor may also choose the Teacher Track. Please note, the Teacher Track does not include the business resources or permission to use the term "DiscoverDance" at your studio or in your marketing materials.

If you are a studio owner who has early childhood dance instructors on staff, you will want to choose the Studio Track. You will receive a login for yourself as well as up to 5 other teachers. The studio owner login will have full access to the Experience. The studio teachers will have access to the teaching library, lab, and academy. They will not have access to the business library resources. All members can create and share lesson plans through a studio dashboard.

How long is my membership?

You can choose a yearly (best value) or monthly membership. Membership will renew automatically.

Are any apps needed in order to use the resources inside the DiscoverDance Experience?

A Canva account will be needed in order to use our customizable templates. There is a free Canva version option available.

Although we provide many Apple Music playlists, Spotify is the preferred streaming platform for DiscoverDance. If you use a different platform, you can find the song titles and artists on the lesson plans and activity videos.

Can I advertise that I teach DiscoverDance at my studio?

Only those enrolled in the Studio Track DiscoverDance Experience have permission to use the DiscoverDance name. This means you may advertise that your studio teaches DiscoverDance. Inside the DiscoverDance Business Library (only available in the Studio Track), you will find the DiscoverDance logos and a badge to incorporate into your studio marketing. Your license will continue to be valid for the length of your subscription in the DiscoverDance Experience.

The Teacher Track does not have permission to use the DiscoverDance name or logos, but these members are encouraged to add their membership credentials to their teaching resume. This will inform studio owners that you are dedicated to your professional development and personally have access to teach from the DiscoverDance lesson plans. Please see our Terms and Conditions for all the fun legal verbiage.

I joined the Studio Track membership. Do I use one of the Studio Teacher codes for myself?

No. As the owner of the Studio Track membership, you have special privileges that your studio teachers do not have. In addition, you have access to everything the Studio Teacher membership has without using one of the Studio Teacher codes for yourself. If you use your Studio Track membership username with one of your studio teacher codes, you will change your membership in the system and lose Studio Track access. If this happens, please contact us at info@discoverdance.com. We can change your membership in our system, but we cannot reactivate the Studio Teacher code you used.

I joined the Studio Track membership. How do I set up my Studio Teacher accounts?
  • Studio Owner- Log in at DiscoverDance.com.
  • Go to "Membership Dashboard".
  • Scroll to the bottom to find "Invite Codes".
  • Copy an Invite Code.
  • Log out of account from Membership Dashboard "Quick Links".
  • Click "Join" on DiscoverDance.com.
  • Click "Studio Teacher (Must Have Studio Code)".
  • Create Username (this cannot be changed) and Password (this can be changed).
  • Add the teacher's email address (this can be changed).
  • Paste Invite code.

IMPORTANT- We highly recommend you assign the studio teacher codes to the general role of a teacher rather than to a teacher. For example, Ashley is the studio owner. Instead of giving the Studio Teacher invite code to Miss Gina (her Saturday preschool teacher) to create her own account, Ashley will create the account for Miss Gina and give her the login information. She will use a generic (but more creative than our example) username "Teacher1". This way, when Miss Gina gets a professional gig and can no longer teach the preschool classes at the studio on Saturday mornings, Ashley will give that login information to Miss Rhonda who will be taking those classes over.

Note- Usernames CANNOT be changed. Passwords, email addresses, and other profile information CAN be changed.
